The medium might be Different, but the core remains Same

As per reports, India has nearly 750 Million internet users and approximately 760 Million smartphone users, i.e., approximately 50% of India's population has access to Smartphones and Internet Connectivity.

(India population - 1.37 Billion and counting)

Pre-Covid the situation was different, there was a gradual increase in the Internet users and Smartphone sales. Post-Covid everything changed. There was a sudden rise in the Internet Users, Smartphone and digital devices (usage and sales), Use (and Subscription) of online platforms, and most importantly the use of digital channels to promote businesses, products and services has doubled.

Everyone started to focus on Digital Space. Businesses who followed and believed traditional marketing have shifted to Digital Marketing. The concept which was ridiculed was now their only hope.

I agree, in this digitally connected world "Digital Marketing" is the future and has the power to transform a surviving business into a thriving business, but that doesn't mean "Traditional Marketing" is old fashioned and fading. Traditional Marketing still plays an important role in the businesses and people's lives.

It is important an Entrepreneur/Organization understand "the key to a great marketing campaign is to find the right balance between traditional and digital".

You need to see how each method may affect your business. If your target market is the type that has limited or no access to digital media or does not prefer digital media, then you may be better with traditional methods. but if your target market is permanently connected to internet, you need to stick with digital.

Whatever may be the case, "you need to make sure you have an exhaustive and in-depth knowledge of your business and your target market".

Note:

  • Never ignore the fundamentals/basics of marketing. It helps you see the big picture
  • Almost 50% of the nation has access to internet connectivity and at the same time "Not everyone is online all the time".
